Day 26 – Manga Mail #5

This week is generally based around a few rare mangas.
I was lucky to have found a site holding a manga I was after for months and for even cheaper than the bundle I was originally looking at. While I was getting that one, I finished the other set I got off someone for free about a year ago and another series I been wanting for years and now finally obtained it. The last other series I obtained from this bundle is another companies version of a manga I have because it has four volumes instead of three, kind of disappointed that they never finished that series. The other volumes include another complete series for less and recent volumes of two other series.

The list as follows:
  • X volume 12
  • Pita-Ten volume 5-8
  • Paradise Kiss volume 2-5
  • Peace Maker Kurogane volume 1-4
  • Shortcake Cake volume 3
  • Ao Haru Ride volume 3
  • Wish volume 1-4

Sure, I am missing two volumes, 1 being from Paradise Kiss and the other being Pita-Ten volume 4 but I am waiting for them to slide into my mail, possibly this week. Then again, a lot of things are coming in this week, due to many reasons including a visit to the lovely Kinokuniya on Tuesday, which I am super excited about.

So, first we have DVDland orders where I got a bunch of TokyoPop mangas for under 5aud each and X being the same price but being a bigger pain in the arse due to its company being, kind of, not around anymore with a flat rate for shipping which made the order more than worth it. 13 volumes under 75aud which is an amazing deal, considering some seem to be yellowed and the shrink wrap on one of the mangas was warping it a bit but otherwise I was more than happy knowing my set is now complete and beautiful, as well as obtaining other mangas that either help finish a set and start and nearly finish other ones I been wanting to get for years.

Shortcake Cake and Ao Haru Ride has come from Book Depository and were both pre-orders, so I was pretty stoked to see them come into my little mitts that I basically finished reading them that day and they were such great reads and I plan to keep up to date with them since they are a great series. They are both similar in look that I basically call them twins.

The last bundle, even though they say it’s “new” on eBay, I claim they are pretty much either been stored and never touched other than by dust and yellowing or they are second-hand but want to sell the 50 million sets they have, considering it was the only one there but ended up having another copy for sale the next day. Yes, my partner is watching the Clamp tag on eBay, hence how we know when another Wish bundle has come in, which is funny. I aim to get xxxHolic one day and the rest of Tsubasa and I may be finally finished with the Clamp tag, maybe, but hey, a complete set that I been eyeing off occasionally, ever since I read Kobato.

That is all the mangas that have invaded my shelves in the last week, but I hope to one day get more shelves for the ever-increasing family of mangas I have here. I look forward to Paradise Kiss 1 to come in since I am really keen for it to come in. I am super happy to realise that DVDland is not a bad place to acquire some mangas, even if they have really random volume numbers and series.
