Day 29 – Manga Mail #6

Thankfully it’s been a slow week, but it helps that the Kino visit reduced the amount of possible incoming manga since I used the funds towards the Kino visit. I am still happy about the orders and considering the Kino order from November come in this week. So, let’s begin this blog.

The list consists of:
  • Aggretsuko with chainsaw pop
  • Paradise Kiss vol. 1
  • Pita-Ten vol. 4
  • Happy Marriage?! Vol. 3-4
  • Persona Q Side: P4 vol. 3-4
  • Promised Neverland vol. 8
  • Fruits Basket vol. 5
  • Twilight vol. 2

So there are about five different places. The places are Kinokuniya, Book Depository, eBay, AbeBooks and Zing/EBGames. I am pleased that the order from last year has come in and there is even a small story to it.

So I went to Kino to procure some mangas and I was stunned to see Happy Marriage volume 3 on the shelf where my order seemed to be missing that volume, so I took it to one of the order desk and inquired about my order. Sure, they are two separate departments and I am now happy to know about that, but they did offer to hold it while we informed the online order department that it is there to be picked up. Sure, I was worried that it can’t be done but they returned the message saying they got it, added it to my order and was very apologetic on overlooking my order. I was just really glad they fixed it and I could, kind of, helped in a way.

So, let’s actually talk about the manga!

So, the only problem I have is that I stupidly ordered the wrong cover of Paradise Kiss, I know, it’s not that terrible but I am a stickler for having everything to match. If it was a little different, I could suck it up but it’s a whole new colour, design and imagery that it kind of throws me off for now. I plan to eventually buy it but for now, I plan to finish off other series before procuring all the rest of the series for both designs, I kind of like both designs.
Out of the pile, Pita-Ten, Paradise Kiss, Persona Q P4, Twilight and Happy Marriage are now complete, and I am very happy that they are done, and I can finally read them and sit there and question myself about why I do this to myself often.

Fruits Basket is somewhat complete, I am just waiting for the rest to come in, but I can now read at least the first five volumes. Twilight, sure I bought it before but finally got the hard cover to match the first volume. It’s silly but I am a sucker for things to match, as I mentioned before.
Perfect to me, especially since Ayame is on the cover and internally, I am squealing like a fan-girl that I thought died during the purging of the inner weeb that happened years ago but apparently, since I have a soft spot for Fruits Basket, seem  to have lived a little and reminds me of what I use to be. The only issue I have is the specks on the back, but I can easily clean it off. I am still so glad that I am nearly finished having them all, the rest is in the mail currently.

Out of all the series procured, I only really read The Promised Neverland and I really enjoyed that series and I can’t wait to read volume 9, since it is getting so good. Yes, I do plan to pre-order that with the Platinum End and possibly Machimaho.
Honestly, I love the cover the most and it’s so pretty to look at that I somewhat want a poster of the cover, this also kind of applies to the other covers causse they are just gorgeous. The condition is also near perfect cause brand-new and all and I still can’t get over how interesting and good the story is getting, and I cannot wait for the next volumes but a 62 day waiting period since that’s how releases work.

Happy Marriage is another series I been waiting for, even got the rest of the series while waiting this one and I am really excited to finally finished this series and oh my, the first two volumes was pretty amusing and now I can finally read the rest.
3 has yellowing but 4 was saved from that since it was shrink-wrapped due to adult content. It all looks and feels good to me and I plan to read it shortly since I am a sucker for a series I started to read and got really into it. It was an unplanned series, but I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I have.

Now Pita-Ten is more of obtaining the missing volume to a series that I am unsure if I want to read or keep the series, but my collector side overrules that I have to keep it and it’s something I won’t praise until I actually read it and pass a better judgement.
The condition is less than stellar with damage to the spine and someone pushed their name into the back cover. Otherwise, the manga looks and feels good and sort of fits in with the other volumes, who seem to have similar damage but hey, I got what I paid for since I got it second-hand off eBay.

Like, my lord, I didn’t know Persona Q side P4 ended on the fourth volume until I got the recent two volumes and I am both happy and sad, mainly sad cause the P3 side may never be finished and it doesn’t feel right to me since I like series to be complete. The P3 side may be sitting with Inubaka, which will never be finished.
Of course, they are in perfect condition due to coming from Kinokuniya as a brand-new manga and I cannot wait to wait to read and finish the series and once again, question myself on why I read series that ends and leave me wanting more.

Besides the fact I messed up on obtaining the right cover design, but I am pleased to have finally bought and finished Paradise Kiss, a series I read years ago online and been dreaming of having a physical copy. Considering at the time I didn’t realise it already had a physical copy, but limited funds would have killed the drive if I knew, so it’s good that I waited till now where I can get it cheaper than I would have at the original time.
The condition of the manga is not bad. It looks good, with a bit of yellowing and a minor dent on the back but otherwise it looks and feels good to me. I still love the art and story of the manga and I cannot wait to re-read it and possibly share my opinion on it, despite it being limited and boring cause I really don’t want to ruin the series.

Now, Twilight is a second-hand baby that would better suit my first volume causse hardcover and need to match. I am not a fan of Twilight but I was given the first volume and due to that compulsion to collect and finish series, I had to get this volume eventually.
It’s in great condition for a second-hand and I am somewhat pleased with this and I cannot wait to read it eventually after I finish the rest since I have so many to read, surely the past posts of buys and procurements are any indicator, I have a lot to read, including my whole set I had for years and haven’t talked about it as much as the others.

The only non-manga related item is Retsuko with a chainsaw, normally I would order to my local EB store but sadly no, she was not there, and I had her sent to me. She is adorable and like one would think, she seems like you cause chainsaw and all. I do admit, I can relate to her in so many ways and not just the fact we are both Scorpios but that does help, which is funny.

So that was one long post where I feel like I have talked more about what I got since I feel like I don’t share much, in a way. I am now getting back to cleaning before sitting around and read so more before getting back to studying cause I will one day get money to buy more things to rant and rave about here.
I am still glad that I am finishing so many series within this weekly bundle and I have less to focus on and still have so many to go.
