This week, we have several reads and due to me being picky,
I decided to make it into two parts, so today, we have the following manga to
present.
- Kakuriyo vol. 1
- Platinum End vol. 8
- The Promised Neverland vol. 9
- Hellsing vol. 1
- Food Wars vol. 12
- Battle Royale vol. 1-5
So, as not to bore you with more of my previous ramblings
about the first three, I will start with the next 7 volumes.
Hellsing was bought as a collection off eBay and they don’t
even look like they are second-hand or even been read, if it has, probably only
once. I am so glad to have this series in my collection since I read the lot
years ago and regret not buying my own set before they became out of print.
The first volume opens readers up to England, a place that’s
in dire need of protection from the supernatural forces, especially vampires.
This is where the Hellsing Organisation comes in with their experience to
combat them, especially with their own personal weapon in the form of a vampire
named Alucard who has immense power at his disposal.
Evil forces are now on the march and Hellsing may not be able to contain since it threatens to engulf not just England but the whole world!

Kohta Hirano’s work is rather amazing to me since it was one
of the few supernatural horror works, I grew up with in regard to manga. So,
when I finally got this, it allowed me to rekindle in what made it so good for
me. My favourite parts are a bit of the story, the seriousness of it all with a
bit of humour. The art is not bad, but I enjoy the scribbles from the mangaka
but most importantly, I love the characters, they are the sole reason on why I
enjoyed reading this so much, especially Alucard’s relationship with everyone.
I do hope everyone gives it a go, especially if you like horror and vampires. I
can’t wait to read the rest of the series after I finish Battle Royale.
Next, we have Battle Royale by Koushun Takami and Masayuki
Taguchi, I read five out of fifteen mangas this week. Being over ten years old,
this is probably one of my oldest series I own to date.
Battle Royale is a terrible lottery that you don’t want to
win if you are a ninth grader in Japan, since you and your classmates would end
up on TV, where you are killing each other in order to be the last man
standing. Within the five volumes, The Program escalates as 42 students dwindle
down to 20 students. Some die from their own choices while others are accidents
but there are a few who are playing to win!
We follow Shuuya, Noriko and Shogo as they make their way through the world of Battle Royale.

Yes, this is a series aimed for those 18 years and over. So
I advise that rule should be followed, despite the fact I never did and ended
up buying most, if not, the whole series while being under the age of 18, which
I honestly don’t regret since I now have the complete set, while it was in
print and at an affordable price.
Now, in my opinion, the art wasn’t a factor for me buying it since it never
appealed to me much, but it’s grown on me a lot. It’s the story, the characters
and the development of the everything that won me over. I do hope people give
this a read, as well as the novel.
Next will be a quick one, since it’s a single volume of Food
Wars. I only have the twelve volumes so far and hopefully; I will at least be
close to up to date by the end of the year. Let’s skim over the synopsis of
volume twelve.
With the fall classics coming to a conclusion with a
historic first, a three way battle!
Pike being the selected ingredient to grace the grandest of stages but with such a tight time limit and taking on such overwhelming advisaries in the form of Hayama and Kurokiba, does Soma have the chance to create something amazing and win this challenge?

I look forward to reading more since I enjoy both the art
and story, though some characters shit me
but I really can’t wait to see where this goes, despite me reading up to
about volume twenty since my friend initially started collecting it but it’s
going to take me a while to get them but I will get there one day.
Next, we have Kakuriyo, where I been wanting to get the next
volume but after that, it’s waiting for pre-orders to come out. Anyway, I
really enjoy the story and art of the series, the characters are starting to
grow on me, like Aoi, who is determined to not marry the ogre she just met and
find ways to pay off her grandfathers debts that she became collateral for,
since he lacked means and ways to pay them back. I am really rooting for her.
The Promised Neverland volume nine escalates further as
things get more heated as the search for Minerva leads Emma to a secret within
Goldy Pond. Heeding the clues, Emma and the other children has survived many
situations within the outside world, but the truth is harder to swallow when it
is not what she expected or hoped for. Then again, before much more can be
done, the demons make a move.
I love where this is going and I cannot wait till I get my mitts on the next
volume but then again, pre-order stage is currently happening as we speak.
Onto our final manga for this part, we have Platinum End
volume eight.
It’s white arrow against the red arrow as Mirai continues to face off Metropoliman as they fight to see who is closer to being the next god. The battle comes closer to the end but what is the motives behind Metropoliman? Will everyone be there for the next battle?

I am not too sure considering the manga ends on a cliff-hanger and like with
The Promised Neverland, I have to wait till the next volume comes out of the
pre-order stage in order for me to obtain it.
That’s it for part one, next we will have the second part of
the weekly reads. Out of all of them, I am really enjoying Kakuriyo and I am
slowly going to finish Battle Royale now. Until then, read all the things!
