Day 47 - Weekly Reads Part 1

This week, we have several reads and due to me being picky, I decided to make it into two parts, so today, we have the following manga to present.
  • Kakuriyo vol. 1
  • Platinum End vol. 8
  • The Promised Neverland vol. 9
  • Hellsing vol. 1
  • Food Wars vol. 12
  • Battle Royale vol. 1-5

So, as not to bore you with more of my previous ramblings about the first three, I will start with the next 7 volumes.

Hellsing was bought as a collection off eBay and they don’t even look like they are second-hand or even been read, if it has, probably only once. I am so glad to have this series in my collection since I read the lot years ago and regret not buying my own set before they became out of print.

The first volume opens readers up to England, a place that’s in dire need of protection from the supernatural forces, especially vampires. This is where the Hellsing Organisation comes in with their experience to combat them, especially with their own personal weapon in the form of a vampire named Alucard who has immense power at his disposal.
Evil forces are now on the march and Hellsing may not be able to contain since it threatens to engulf not just England but the whole world!

Kohta Hirano’s work is rather amazing to me since it was one of the few supernatural horror works, I grew up with in regard to manga. So, when I finally got this, it allowed me to rekindle in what made it so good for me. My favourite parts are a bit of the story, the seriousness of it all with a bit of humour. The art is not bad, but I enjoy the scribbles from the mangaka but most importantly, I love the characters, they are the sole reason on why I enjoyed reading this so much, especially Alucard’s relationship with everyone. I do hope everyone gives it a go, especially if you like horror and vampires. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series after I finish Battle Royale.

Next, we have Battle Royale by Koushun Takami and Masayuki Taguchi, I read five out of fifteen mangas this week. Being over ten years old, this is probably one of my oldest series I own to date.

Battle Royale is a terrible lottery that you don’t want to win if you are a ninth grader in Japan, since you and your classmates would end up on TV, where you are killing each other in order to be the last man standing. Within the five volumes, The Program escalates as 42 students dwindle down to 20 students. Some die from their own choices while others are accidents but there are a few who are playing to win!
We follow Shuuya, Noriko and Shogo as they make their way through the world of Battle Royale.

Yes, this is a series aimed for those 18 years and over. So I advise that rule should be followed, despite the fact I never did and ended up buying most, if not, the whole series while being under the age of 18, which I honestly don’t regret since I now have the complete set, while it was in print and at an affordable price.
Now, in my opinion, the art wasn’t a factor for me buying it since it never appealed to me much, but it’s grown on me a lot. It’s the story, the characters and the development of the everything that won me over. I do hope people give this a read, as well as the novel.

Next will be a quick one, since it’s a single volume of Food Wars. I only have the twelve volumes so far and hopefully; I will at least be close to up to date by the end of the year. Let’s skim over the synopsis of volume twelve.

With the fall classics coming to a conclusion with a historic first, a three way battle!
Pike being the selected ingredient to grace the grandest of stages but with such a tight time limit and taking on such overwhelming advisaries in the form of Hayama and Kurokiba, does Soma have the chance to create something amazing and win this challenge?

I look forward to reading more since I enjoy both the art and story, though some characters shit me  but I really can’t wait to see where this goes, despite me reading up to about volume twenty since my friend initially started collecting it but it’s going to take me a while to get them but I will get there one day.

Next, we have Kakuriyo, where I been wanting to get the next volume but after that, it’s waiting for pre-orders to come out. Anyway, I really enjoy the story and art of the series, the characters are starting to grow on me, like Aoi, who is determined to not marry the ogre she just met and find ways to pay off her grandfathers debts that she became collateral for, since he lacked means and ways to pay them back. I am really rooting for her.

The Promised Neverland volume nine escalates further as things get more heated as the search for Minerva leads Emma to a secret within Goldy Pond. Heeding the clues, Emma and the other children has survived many situations within the outside world, but the truth is harder to swallow when it is not what she expected or hoped for. Then again, before much more can be done, the demons make a move.
I love where this is going and I cannot wait till I get my mitts on the next volume but then again, pre-order stage is currently happening as we speak.

Onto our final manga for this part, we have Platinum End volume eight.
It’s white arrow against the red arrow as Mirai continues to face off Metropoliman as they fight to see who is closer to being the next god. The battle comes closer to the end but what is the motives behind Metropoliman? Will everyone be there for the next battle?
I am not too sure considering the manga ends on a cliff-hanger and like with The Promised Neverland, I have to wait till the next volume comes out of the pre-order stage in order for me to obtain it.

That’s it for part one, next we will have the second part of the weekly reads. Out of all of them, I am really enjoying Kakuriyo and I am slowly going to finish Battle Royale now. Until then, read all the things!

Day 45 – March Monthly Overview

This month was a good mix of getting a lot done and getting so little done.
Compared to last month, they seem to be really consistent with each other and that was completely unintentional.

I have a few bundles in mind that may take a bit to obtain them all, mainly to finish off two sets and start focusing on other sets while Food Wars is slowly caught up to date, no idea why I thought it was a great idea to buy that series but kind of no regrets here since it’s rather enjoyable, though the length is not.

Day 43 – Weekly Reads (19th - 25th)

So again, with me delaying stuff. I know, it’s a bad habit of mine, I will try and fix it as best as I can but I am not inclined to make shallow promises but I can try and release them as soon as I can.
Anyway, this week I basically read a whole series, which I will only speak about the opinion of rather than reword the synopsis from Day 42.

For once, I am not going by synopsis of the mangas but rather speak from memory about it. It will probably give a better indicator of how much the story stuck to me as a reader. I may be sarcastic or harsh at some points and I apologise for that, I am in a mood currently, but I have a drive to write!

Here is the works I have indulged in the last week:
  • Made in Heaven vol. 1-2
  • Food Wars vol. 11
  • Kiss Him, Not Me vol. 1-14
  • Resident Evil the Marhawa Desire vol. 1-5

Made in Heaven is a two-part series distributed by TokyoPop, saying that gives you an indicator that it will be a pain in the arse to get since it’s most likely an Out of Print (OOP) manga and going to cost a lot for new and just a little less for a second-hand book.

So, it’s a romantic drama with a dash of Tragedy as the first volume follows the guy, who use to be Reiji until he died and become Kazemichi, a cyborg with a limited lifespan. He eventually meets Juri, a woman who keeps to herself, they fall in love and moved in together.
You end the Kazemichi side where he gifts Juri an early Christmas present and dies not long after. Juri side continues with her finding out the truth about Kazemichi and why he died. It also pieces together all the loose ends and finally reveals how they truly felt about each other.

I like the story cause it’s not the typical happy ending that a lot of Shoujo based mangas have and you easily kind of get attached to the main characters. I didn’t mind the art style so much since it is an older one, but it was very pleasant to look at. I feel that there is not much you can do with the manga and should never go further than two volumes. I give it a 3.5 out of 5 bookmarks.
Good for people who like a tragedy and short series.

Volume 11 of Food Wars continues with the fall classics as Soma is pitched against the copycat Mimasaka but as we all know, Soma does beat him and win everyone’s knives back but Takumi wants to win it back later off Soma, which I do hope the series goes back and touches upon.
Anyway, not much to really add besides wanting to read more of the series but it will take me a while to procure them all and read. Then again, seeing everyone up to 29 and I am crawling at 12 makes me somewhat nervous or inadequate but I am sure to be able to fix that one day.
Sadly, I lack a rating for this one since I want to read more before judging it hard cause right now it’s about a 4.5 bookmark but may or may not change.

Now, reading all fourteen volumes in a few days amazes me since I am usually a lazy shit when it comes to reading but anyway, let’s get to how I feel about the series since I have already explained the story earlier.
So, we are following a Fujoshi who suddenly got beautiful and everyone is like “oh my god, I think I love Kae”, sure, I like how they somewhat accepted she loves anime and yaoi but even then it seems shaky. I did enjoy the story, but I didn’t like how at one point that she treated it like a game and dragged out her answer when we knew Mutsumi would be the winner because he recognised her and the others are like “It’s Kae, wha?”

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good story with lovely art but at times some parts annoyed me, or some characters made me want to punch them for some reason or another, like Kae choosing Shion over Mutsumi at one point. I am glad it was a stopped at fourteen cause if it went even longer, it would not be worth buying cause there is only so much you can do with that story, in my opinion. I give this a 4 out of 5 bookmarks.

Now, I am going to be bias as hell since I am a Resident Evil fan since like 1998 when I first played Resident Evil Directors Cut or somewhere there cause my father is like “have fun playing” and boom, RE fan for life apparently. Anyway, this manga is situated before Resident Evil 6, which I don’t like very much, but the manga was very fascinating though and does give an insight about how the virus between the very first installation compared to where it is now is amazing.

Any whom, let us talk about the manga as we follow the main protag, Ricky as he travels to the Marhawa academy with his Uncle Doug to investigate a possible virus outbreak. Of course, Gracia doesn’t want the school to let the reputation to go to the dogs and tried to cover it, but it greatly upset Bindi who decided that this truth would not be buried and unleashed the virus onto the whole school population.
Now, Chris, Merah and Piers come in and save the day. Well, not really, everyone kind of dies and only a handful of characters survive, and Ricky ends up recording the situation just as the sixth game begins.

I know, that was kind of a spoiler thing, but I tried to keep it limited.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the story and art but I wish they would translate and release the other Resident Evil mangas since I want them all in my life, even if they quite pricey since I am a poor butt but then again, that’s just me. I am so glad I have this series. I give this a 5 out of 5 bookmarks cause I’m stubborn that way.

Now, I am sorry for the delay and the lack of size, but I didn’t have much variety at this rate. I am hoping to read more mangas this week and if not, hopefully more variety, which I can somewhat confirm that it may be a possibility at this rate. Anyway, we have come to an end and therefore, time to read all the things!

Day 42 – Manga Mail

Welcome kiddies for another instalment of “Orders finally coming in”.
Anyway, we have a small or maybe a long list today since it has two complete series/arc in this list, reaching either the halfway or nearing the end mark of the series and trying to slowly, but badly, catch up on long series or a pricey one, looking at you Zombie.

The list is as following, since it’s a mix of having discounts and a kind partner:
  • Behind the Scenes vol. 6
  • Deadman Wonderland vol. 3-6
  • Food Wars vol. 11-12
  • Hour of the Zombie vol. 2
  • Kiss Him, Not Me vol. 1-14
  • Pokemon Adventures: Red & Blue vol. 1-7

The list is small and interesting. There are also a few orders either on the way or within the realms of pre-orders, since I am enjoying the notion of pre-ordering manga since they tend to appear randomly for me.

So, we finally welcome the manga that didn’t want to come home. Behind the Scenes volume 6 did take a while coming in but I am not upset with it, it’s finally here and I can’t wait to finally read it, since I think the series ends in one more volume and  I cannot wait till it all comes together and I can rave about it for like a week.
Anyway, let’s start with volume 6 synopsis.

It’s winter break and the art students are helping a local children’s centre put up on a holiday puppet show, since having no classes allows them to have time preparing but all that togetherness hits Ranmaru for his heartsore. After he thinks he’s accepted that Ruka is only interested in Goda, he finds out that she has agreed to an arrange marriage after college!

This sounds so good and I cannot wait to read that and the possible final volume! I am also sad that it will also be ending soon too but it can’t be helped though, all good things must come to an end.

Deadman Wonderland is slowly coming to completion and I am feeling rather proud of it. Currently, seven is on its way, so I can possibly boast about slowly getting over the halfway bump of the series and now, time to share the synopsis of the next four volumes I have currently.

Ganta now enters the Carnival Corpse, a battle between two branches of sin users and now he is up against a timid girl, he ponders, can he even take her on? Meanwhile, deep in the bowels of the prison, the warden stands face to face with the Red Man.

Now in volume 4, Ganta is now recruited into the Scar Chain, an antiestablishment group planning a mass prison escape. After a brief meeting with Shiro, he is at a crossroads but Nagi convinces him to take part. However, a traitor is already leaked the plan, cause of course, to the Undertakers, a group that takes out rebels without mercy.

We continue with the leader being captured and the plan being thwarted, so Ganta seeks out training in order to use his powers to his advantage, even if it means he will be dwelling deeper into the dark side of the prison, well a darker and deadlier plot anyway. As the battle comes to the end, who really wins when one loses? Considering that is the outcome of any battle.

Despite the loss of their leader, Scar Chain manages to defeat the Undertakers and escape, except for Ganta and Shiro. Tamaki, the insane mastermind behind the Deadman Wonderland initiates the next part of his diabolical plan. So, he releases one of his new developments, called the Ninben, which is an artificial Deadman and uses Azami as one of the first test subjects!

Only went up two volumes this time round and it basically concludes the Fall Classic tournament. Let’s begin with the synopsis, since I only really read one of the two volumes, since another manga got in the way first.

Volume 11 continues with Mimasaka copying his opponents’ dish so completely and perfectly that it usually knocks them out the park and he does this, only in order for him to win. But is that what cooking is really about? Hoping to find the answer, Soma will give up everything, especially his identity of being a Chef, Things will be made clear when the time comes at the judging at the Fall Classics first semi-final rounds but that’s not all, the second round brings a surprising twist!

Volume 12 starts with a three-way battle in the finals!
The ingredient chosen to grace the finals is an Autumn staple, Pike. With a strict time limit, what incredible dishes can the three finalist bring to the epic conclusion of the Classics!?

I cannot wait to get more of this series since I think I have read up to somewhere in the twenties section of the volumes area. I am hoping to get within that are by the end of the year.

Next, we have a nine-volume series where it is somewhat pricey, but I am slowly collecting them since it sounds like a fascinating series. Here we have volume 2 out of nine for the series.

It was just a normal day for Akira, until some students go berserk and start seeing everyone as lunch and started to chow down. Now Akira, Furuchi and Umezawa are trying to find the source of why this is happening and what to do since help is not an option.

Volume two continues as the hostilities between zombie and students continue to grow which threatens to destroy the school, Houjou must enact dire measures to make sure no more lives are lost but it will come at a terrible cost.

I recently procured Kiss him, not Me off an amazing IG user, takunoshibooks! So, I am really happy to finally have the whole series and basically read the whole series within a few days and oh my, it was such a rush. There were even parts where I did not expect that to happen. Anyway, let’s start with the synopsis, I plan to do a comment or review in the weekly reads post that is being written after this post.

We meet Kae Serinuma is a fujoshi, a female geek that gets really worked up over anime and manga but in particular, Yaoi or Boys Love, doesn’t matter if it’s fictional or not, she is all about that boy on boy action.
When her favourite anime character, Shion, is killed off, Kae is so shocked that she locked herself in her room for a week. After being pulled out by her family, she discovers she lost a lot of weight, a miracle that so many of us wish we had in reality. So due to her beautiful transformation, she attracts all the good-looking guys in school, mainly Yusuke Igarashi, Nozomu Nanashima, Hayato Shinomiya and Asuma Mutsumi.
Despite learning that Kae is an Otaku and a fujoshi, they all fight for her love anyway cause she looks so much better, though Mutsumi knew it was her despite the change. Then to throw in the Yuri theme, Shima Nishina comes in and battles for the affection of Kae too. Though Kae, obviously would love the boys to hook up with each other for her and Shima to drool over, despite them wanting to be with her.

I know, I sound a bit harsh and that but honestly, it was a good manga and some parts honestly shit me up the wall, but I am sharing how I think about the series and how it is kind of projecting. Though, fun fact, my hoped pairing does end up together and makes my day.

We now have finally got the first bundle of Pokémon, cause why not or maybe being a bit nostalgic, growing up with Pokémon and all. So, I cannot wait to actually read them all as well as the second bundle of Gold and Silver. Though one day I need to find and procure the Yellow volumes, if there is a thing.

The first story shows Red, who gets his Pokedex from Professor Oak to start his journey, collecting and battling everything he passes, especially to obtain some badges and eventually meeting his rival, Blue. Don’t worry, later on he encounters the con artist, Green, who sells him fake stuff and has stolen a Pokémon from Oak and evolves it.
We progress further when Oak is kidnapped by Team Rocket and forced to create a Mewtwo but in usual fashion, Red, Blue and Green arrive to face the admin. They defeat them and rescue Oak, but that’s not all, Red travels to the end battle area to battle his rival despite only having seven badges and also kick’s Mewtwo butt and the leader of Team Rocket. Fret not, in usual fashion, Red wins the title of Champion of the Pokémon League.

I am pleased at having two complete sets and finally got the missing volume in and cannot wait to read them all, despite being a good halfway through Kiss Him, Not me at this point. I hope to finish Deadman Wonderland sooner than later, since I have at least six more volumes to go, since volume seven has been ordered in this week with a few pre-orders and Ao Haru Ride. Now that’s all folks and remember, read all the things!

Will post Pokemon and Kiss me later

Day 41 – Weekly Reads (12th - 18th)

Presenting the mangas I have read this week and I am pleased to share all the things I have read this week. I am fifteen volumes in this week and it’s not bad considering I didn’t do much this week

Here are the fifteen mangas that entertained me in the week:
  • Danganronpa 2 vol 2
  • Deadman Wonderland vol 1+2
  • Food Wars vol 7-10
  • Genkaku Picasso vol 2+3
  • Machimaho vol 2
  • Paradise Kiss vol 3-5
  • Sorcerers and Secretaries vol 2
  • Tokyo Tarareba Girls vol 1

In Day 36 and 40, we have covered a few volumes, such as Deadman Wonderland, Genkaku Picasso, Machimaho and Tokyo Tarareba Girls and like previously stated, I will not reiterate these for those who already heard it and if you haven’t then I mentioned the days for you to read, since I am both lazy and don’t want to bother you all with the same thing over and over.

Let’s begin this long chapter of reviews slash comments about the mangas that has won me over the week. We shall start with Danganronpa 2 which was procured from Kinokuniya sometime ago since they sell it cheapest for me.

This continues with the trial to find out who killed off Togami and it seems like chef Hanamura is getting a little hot under the collar as he goes from the fridge into the frying pan. After that, we continue the life of the students but before long, another death occurs and due to a video game, that is holding some truths!

I really enjoyed this, even though, compared to the rest, it was a heavy read and now I cannot wait for the next volume, but I am really impatient as usual and since it ended on the usual cliff-hanger but had a really interesting bribe, I give it a 4 out of 5 bookmarks.

As it dawns on me, I have previously spoken about the four volumes of the Food Wars and feel like I shouldn’t go on about it again, so I shall share the feelings I got from it.

I really enjoyed reading these and I seriously need to finish this story arc and I want to see what happens in the semi-finals since it ended with Soma making a bet that could result in him never cooking again, despite knowing there is up to thirty volumes that we all know he wins. I am seriously excited about the story and I plan to finally be caught up to date by the end of the year or at least be right near the up to date line. I gave it a 4 out of 5 bookmarks.

Now we have the final part of the Paradise Kiss manga reads and it was such a great read. I am even more happy to finally own the complete series since I been wanting a physical copies but didn’t realise it had one till recently and I am so pleased to have them but let’s share the synopsis of the last five.

In the third volume, we follow Yukari as she steps out of school and into the catwalk and her life has never been the same since, she’s rapidly becoming a desirable model and can’t make a single move without parental consent. When she asks George for advice, he gives her grief and not answers, and she wonders if he is worth her time or devotion.
The fourth volume features the school fashion show and a last-minute fight to the finish as the drama escalates and Yukari passes out! A mysterious lady from George’s life shows up and supports him on the big day, Yukari is conflicted if they are friends or more than that and it eats at her trust for others, but she only knows one thing, that she wants everyone at Paradise Kiss to take the first prize at the show.
In the final volume, the show comes to an end, as well as what everyone wants to do as their future is looming closer as they are edging towards the end of their school lives. Yukari is still on between wanting to follow the college route or a modelling career, which also brings her relationship with George to the crossroads that will change their lives forever. Will this be the end of Paradise Kiss?

I really enjoyed the story but not as much as I enjoyed the ending. It was amazing and I really hope people give it a read since it does seem like different compared to other mangas and it tends to break the fourth wall a lot as well. I want to give this a 4.5 out of 5 bookmarks for this series.

Now onto the final volume that I have read and also, a final volume of the series. It was a second-hand procurement and have been mentioned previously in a post but now I will share my second final views on this since I hope to share a better review.

The story is amazing, and I cannot emphasis that this is fairly a good read and I hope people read this series if they want more of a western feel and view manga with fantasy, romance and drama. It is also fairly short, and I give it a 4 out of 5 bookmarks.

I am really amused that I read this much this week and it makes me happy to read. I am unsure on what to say further since I am burnt myself out by gushing all about the mangas and I really want everyone to give these a read too. Now, this is Mizu signing out and like me, remember to read all the things!

Day 37 – Manga Mail

This week we only got four mangas towards the total, since I didn’t get much towards series, in a way. I have read two of the four new mangas, I am very proud of that considering I been delayed by Mayo Chiki a bit.

I plan to write the reading review here of the two I have read since the next post about the weekly reads will be much longer due to the amount I read. Spoiler, I will be talking about Panty and Stocking with Spiral, since I read those two this week. Anyway, let’s begin!

The following mangas are:
  • Spiral
  • Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
  • Food Wars vol.7
  • Magical Girl Site vol.8

Let’s begin with my favourite genre, horror.

Spiral is one of five mangas in the Ring series. I am pleased to get this one while I am waiting for the fourth or maybe fifth volume get cheaper cause short life shelves and being a pain in a butt to find cause out of print but anyway, still so pleased about it. Then again, I chose to collect old series or started them years ago and is only know collecting them.

In the manga adaptation of Koji Suzuki’s novel, Spiral. The legend of Sadako’s evil takes a scientific turn as Mitsuo Ando, a college mate of Ryuji Takayama, must now decipher a mysterious code left behind to find out more about the strange virus that seems to stem from watching the video tape as it kills people once again. When disbelief kicks in and turns to fear, logic bends to survival and human evolution changes drastically since now Sadako plan is not just horrifying but much darker and more sinister.

I really enjoy this since it seems much closer to the original novels compared to the first few mangas but then again, they seemed to have followed the movies more closely than the actual novels, which is not surprising.

Next, we have Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.
If anyone knows the series, this manga is just a 110-page short version of the series. I like the humour, but I don’t like how short it was considering it was quite pricey for the size and that kind of annoyed me, but I am still happy to obtain it since I am a fan of the series. So, let me tell you all about it!

We are back with everyone’s fallen angels in nine new short stories, written and drawn by TARGO. Booted out of heaven for gross immorality, sisters Panty and Stocking Anarchy are trying to earn their way back by taking out evil ghosts, under the command of their questionable preacher, Garterbelt. Evil doesn’t stand a chance when good is prepared to kick arse.

As said, I enjoyed the series but did not enjoy the price nor size. It’s the type of humour and vulgarity that I expect from this series and I would have been so disappointed if the manga didn’t reflect it. So as much as I complain, I am so pleased to get this solo volume to have in my collection.

So, before we enter the realm of horror again, we shall take a peak at the world of cooking.
Now we have Food Wars 7, where I was annoyed at it for being one of the more pricey Food Wars but at the time of purchase, it was obscenely cheap and in my usual fashion, I nabbed it before it went back to a more natural price.

Preliminary round of the Fall classic begins!
All the contestants do their best to showcase their skills to the acclaimed judges with the favoured students presenting the most exquisite curry dishes that they can make and only the top eight finalists will be qualified to enter the main event. Who will make the cut!?

I am so glad to be actually progressing on buying this series since there is several volumes out and I am straggling behind in the realm of ten volumes but hey, I will get there and enjoy the series in the process.

Onto the final manga of this mail batch.

We have Magical Girl Site volume 8, which I got originally as a pre-order and it was pushed back at one point, but I am stocked that it has finally arrived, and I can’t wait to read them all in a row. Though I have to eventually put volume 9 on pre-order since I am keeping this and several others completely up to date. I have to eventually figure out when this series ends. Any whom, onto the synopsis.

Aya and her friends have successfully captured a manager!
When their captives’ body unexpectedly changes, they are left with more questions than answers but who or what are the managers?

Hopefully I can get my weekly reads, that is long overdue, written up today and possibly posted.

That’s all I can really say since it’s a brief blurb and I haven’t read them yet and funnily, since this is a few days late, a whole lot more mangas have come in and I can’t wait to share them at the end of the week. Mizu signing out of yet another manga mail and remember kiddies, read all the things!

Day 34 – Manga Mail

I purposely didn’t do last week since I didn’t want Shibuya Goldfish on its own and I hoped at least one other came in this week and four came in instead. Pity two others haven’t come in yet, but I can wait till them and maybe several others come in but then again, no mail on the weekend.

So, the new editions are:
  • Gantz Omnibus vol. 2
  • Food Wars vol. 8-10
  • Shibuya Goldfish vol. 3

We will start with the chunky monkey Gantz.
It’s the next three volumes from 4 to 6. The condition is lovely, and I am glad that this came in but the only problem with that order is one was missing but I am happy to wait for it or even get a response from the store.
It continues from Volume three where they have entered another battle of survival. I would say more but I haven’t quite read it yet and the manga lacks a synopsis. I can’t wait to finally read it since I last read it online, like the loser I was.

Next, we have Food Wars where I am finally up to ten out of twenty-eight volumes, well, until twenty-nine to thirty-three is finally released on the world and whatever other volumes are unleashed not long after.
Eight continues with the battle of the Fall Classic preliminaries ends. Now Soma is up against the master of fragrance, Akira Hayama in a battle of the curry dishes. It also has a bonus story at the end of the manga.
Volume nine and ten covers flows onto each other and I really adore that cover the most and kind of wish they did that to all the volumes since I rarely see covers do that.
Now volume nine is starting with the finals have begun and the first round starts with bento boxes theme. The battle of egos as Soma clashes with Alice but while she is getting raves, Soma invents a box unlike no one has ever encountered before. It doesn’t stop there as the second round starts shortly after.
Now we have ten where the last quarterfinal match of the Fall Classic.
Takumi wants to find another chance to take Soma on, but Subaru is his next challenger and he is pretty confident since he knows his dishes makes people turn into an uproar at the preparation phase.

Shibuya Goldfish continues with Sable forming plans to take out the fish and gets the others involved in taking them out but that is just the beginning of their problems where things start to escalate. I cannot wait to read more but having to wait for the release date to come out. I have talked about this a lot before since I read it and enjoyed it a lot.

That’s all for this week but I am pleased to see that my collection is finally shaping up with a few series I either been reading for ages and now finally buying or redeeming myself because I flopped at procuring it once ago, but the omnibus is adorable, and I am so glad to finally get it.

Day 24 – Weekly Reads (29th Jan – 4th Feb)

Smaller pile this week but finished reading one series and read all the Naruto that is in my care. I really enjoyed all my reads this week, but I hope to now add in some novels in the next week since I have a few I have been delaying in my reading.

I am pleased to have read a small pile, even though it’s not as many as I did the last few weeks. We have read the following:
  • Naruto 53-60
  • Beast Master 1-2
  • Black Clover 1
  • Food Wars 5-6
  • Alice in the country of Clover: Cheshire Cat Waltz 1-2

Surprisingly, Black Clover is my favoured manga this week since I had a very low opinion of it.
I really enjoy the story and where it could go, kind of reminds me of Naruto, about a boy who lacks the skills but aims for the top. I enjoy the seriousness of it and the comedic aspect of it and I hope to read more but that involves buying more, which will be after a few mangas have been collected and finished before I can continue further, such as Food Wars.

The lower end one is Naruto because I hate leaving myself on a cliff-hanger.
I am hoping to one day procure the last 12 mangas to finish the series and lament in the sorrowful ending of saying goodbye to another series that I oddly started to enjoy reading after spending so long thinking it’s kind of not worth reading.

The other series that sits at the bottom is Alice in the country of Clover since it also ended on a cliff-hanger and is probably going to be a bigger pain to procure them. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the series, the art and especially the story, which is also applicable to Naruto.

Why is Beast Master and Food Wars being in the middle?
Food Wars is amazing as always, but I have so much to catch up on since it is nearing the 30 volume and I am super behind on it and its amazing story. I cannot believe that I am taking so long to collect and get up to date with this series. I am also enjoying where the series is going with the Fall Contest and all.

Beast Master was an amazing read for such a short series, and I have spoken at longer lengths about it in the previous review that I have written up and I feel like I couldn’t add more to it here compared to the previous review.

Hopefully I look forward to seeing if I can increase my reading types and hopefully keep to reading a combo of more than 7 mangas and books a week. I am really pleased though that I am at least 60 volumes in to reading Naruto and boy was that a ride. Hopefully this week promises to have more entertaining posts and maybe a manga mail. If not, I will think of something to post about. Until then, read more things.

Day 20 - Manga Mail #4

The weekly mail manga has come in and in my usual day late fashion, I have finally gotten around to writing my ramble about what I got this week and I am so pleased of them since that means three series are finished, a manga I’d always like, started a new one and continued a few ones.

So, I am finally going to share and talk about how I feel about the following series.

Sankarea was a series I started ages ago and someone was selling the whole series for a really good price and sadly, I have so many mangas to read before it since Naruto is a fair distance to go, well 48 out of 60 volumes read. I am contemplating using Sankarea one as a giveaway item once I reach 333 followers and last check, I finally cracked 300 followers.

Acute is a stand-alone manga based on the Vocaloid song of the same name. It’s one I been wanting to get for ages since I enjoyed the song and I was happy to finally read a Vocaloid based manga instead of listening to the music and I’m really glad that it came in and so cheaply.

Since I read volume 1 of Ao Haru Ride and seemed to enjoy it a lot, I ended up ordering 2 and 3. Volume 2 has come in and recently got the email informing that volume 3 will soon be in the warehouse and be dispatched to me as soon as it is in but then again, it is one of four pre-orders that I have finally getting into my collection.

I bought volume 1 of Beast Master via a seller on Facebook and so, of course, I had to nab volume 2 to finish the set since I really like finishing series, it gives me a joy of knowing that when I get to reading them, I can finish them in one sitting.

In a previous post, I mentioned Angelic Days and finally, volume 4 came in and finally completed the set and I was really happy for the condition and I can’t wait to reread that series again, since it’s been years since I last held them.

I been delaying buying Food Wars for some reason. I manage to nab 5 and 6 for about 5AUD and I am hoping to eventually buy them all and keep up to date on it since it’s a rather long series, I am unsure why I keep delaying it even though it’s a really great series and there are nearly 30 volumes out to date.

Manage to score Prison School for a rather cheap price just to see if it is worth buying. I am amused by the series, even though at times it is intense, and I am so amused and looking forward to reading more of it.

Out of the pile, I only read Prison School, since I took a small break from reading Naruto and eventually plan to read the rest since I am getting so much closer to being up to date with the volumes I currently have on hand. Then again, Naruto is starting to really get good and I dread the time when I finish the series. Either way, let’s welcome the new babies into my collection. They are all so cute and it makes me very happy to get a hold of all these.
